The Fork ( Good Story )

Monday, October 5th, 2009

There was a woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had
been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things “in
order”, she contacted her pastor and had him come to her house to discuss
certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted
sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit
she wanted to be buried in.

The woman also requested to be buried with her favorite Bible.

Everything was in order and the pastor was preparing to leave when the woman
suddenly remembered something very important to her.

“There’s one more thing,” she said excitedly.

“What’s that?” came the pastor’s reply.

“This is very important,” the woman continued. “I want to be buried with a
fork in my right hand.”

The pastor didn’t know what to say. “That surprises you, doesn’t it?” the
woman asked.

“Well, to be honest, I’m puzzled by the request,” said the pastor.

The woman explained. “In all my years of attending church socials and
potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course
were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, ‘Keep your
fork’.

It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming…
Like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and
with substance. So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a
fork in my hand and I want them to wonder, ‘What’s with the fork?’ Then I
want you to tell them : “Keep your fork…the best is yet to come”.

The pastor’s eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the woman the
last time he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the woman
had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She KNEW that something better was
coming.

At the funeral people were walking by the woman’s casket and they saw the
pretty dress she was wearing, her favorite Bible and the fork placed in her
right hand. Over and over, the pastor heard the question, “What’s with the
fork?” And over and over he smiled. During his message, the pastor told
the people of the conversation he had with the woman about what it
symbolized to her.

The pastor told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and
told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it
either. He was right.

So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, oh so
gently, that the best is yet to come.

REAL FRIENDS

REAL FRIENDS

This is GOOD I expect it back too!

I especially like the last sentence!!!!!!
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself
and doesn’t  feel even the least bit weird shutting your
‘beer/Pepsi drawer’ with her foot!

A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend shoulder is soggy from your tears..

A simple friend doesn’t know your parents’ first
names.
A real friend has their phone numbers
in his address book.

A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your
party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and
stays late to help you clean.

A simple friend hates it when you call after
they’ve gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to
call.

A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your
problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.

A simple friend wonders about your romantic
history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it!

A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when
you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.

A simple friend expects you to always be there for
them
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

A Thoughtful Morning Quote !

Monday, October 5th, 2009

Decide to be happy today,
to live with what is yours -
your family, your business, your job.
If you can’t have what you like,
maybe you can like what you have.

Just for today, be kind, cheerful, agreeable,
responsive, caring, and understanding.
be your best, dress your best, talk softly, look
for the bright side of things.

Praise people for
what they do and don’t criticize them for what they cannot do.
If someone does something stupid, forgive and forget.
After all, it’s just for one day.
Who knows, it might turn out to be a good day!

TEN RULES FOR A GOOD DAY !!!

TEN RULES FOR A GOOD DAY !!!

TODAY I WILL NOT STRIKE BACK:
If someone is rude, if someone is impatient, if someone is unkind…I will not respond in a like manner.

TODAY I WILL ASK GOD TO BLESS MY “ENEMY”:
If I come across someone who treats me harshly or unfairly, I will quietly ask God to bless that individual. I understand the “enemy” could be a family member, neighbor, co-worker, or a stranger.

TODAY I WILL BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT I SAY:
I will carefully choose and guard my words being certain that I do not spread gossip.

TODAY I WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE:
I will find ways to help share the burden of another person.

TODAY I WILL FORGIVE:
I will forgive any hurts or injuries that come my way. TODAY I WILL DO SOMETHING NICE FOR SOMEONE, BUT I WILL DO IT SECRETLY: I will reach out anonymously and bless the life of another.

TODAY I WILL TREAT OTHERS THE WAY I WISH TO BE TREATED:
I will practice the golden rule – “Do unto others as I would have them do unto me” – with everyone I encounter.

TODAY I WILL RAISE THE SPIRITS OF SOMEONE I DISCOURAGED:
My smile, my words, my expression of support, can make the difference to someone who is wrestling life.

TODAY I WILL NURTURE MY BODY:
I will eat less; I will eat only healthy foods. I will thank God for my body.

TODAY I WILL GROW SPIRITUALLY:
I will spend a little more time in prayer today: I will begin reading something spiritual or inspirational today; I will find a quiet place and listen to God’s voice !
